Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Contact sales@ballisticdefence.com

Do you ship to my country?

Yes. We ship orders worldwide. See more information from other shipping related FAQ questions.

How are your plate carriers different from competitors?

We manufacture everything in-house, from raw materials to final inspection. This means advanced breathable padding that reduces heat buildup during extended wear, integrated quick-release mechanisms (not add-ons), reinforced MOLLE/PALS webbing tested under load, and ergonomic designs that move with your body. Every carrier leaves our facility ready for immediate deployment. We don't rebrand other manufacturers' products.

What protection levels do your armor products offer?

Level IIIA / HG2: Handgun threats (.44 Magnum, 9mm, .357 Magnum), 1.2 lb
Level III / RF1: 7.62x51mm NATO rifle rounds, 2.7 lb
Level III+ / RF2: 5.56mm M855, 7.62x39mm, 3.8 lb
Level IV / RF3: .30-06 M2 AP armor-piercing, 5.8 lb

All plates are 100% CT-inspected and serialized for traceability. Test reports available upon request.

Do plate carriers include armor plates?

No. Plate carriers are load-bearing systems only. Ballistic plates are sold separately and must be purchased based on your threat assessment. This allows you to select the appropriate protection level (III, III+, or IV) for your specific needs. Standard carriers accommodate 10x12 inch plates.

What's your warranty?

5-year limited warranty on ballistic plates against manufacturing defects. 10-year shelf life under proper storage. Tactical carriers warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty does not cover normal wear, improper use, or plates that have stopped rounds (they've done their job). Contact sales@ballisticdefence.com for warranty claims.

Who are your products designed for?

Law enforcement officers, military and special operations personnel, private security contractors, federal agents and first responders, and responsible civilians serious about protection. We serve professionals and citizens equally. Protection is not reserved for badges.

Can civilians legally purchase body armor?

Yes, in most states. Federal law allows civilian ownership with key restrictions: convicted felons cannot purchase or possess body armor (18 U.S.C. 931), Connecticut requires face-to-face transactions, and New York has similar restrictions. You are responsible for knowing your state's current laws. We will not sell to prohibited individuals.

What protection level should I buy?

Level IIIA: General law enforcement, security work, civilian protection. Stops most handgun threats. This is the most versatile option.

Level III: When rifle threats are present. Essential for tactical teams or high-risk patrol areas.

Level III+: Enhanced rifle protection including 5.56mm M855. For special operations and high-threat environments.

Level IV: Maximum protection against armor-piercing rounds. Military combat zones and specialized tactical units.

Unsure? Contact us at sales@ballisticdefence.com. We'll help you assess your actual needs, not upsell unnecessary protection.

Can I travel with body armor?

Domestic air travel is generally permitted in checked luggage (verify with your airline). International travel varies drastically. Many countries prohibit or restrict body armor. Research destination laws before traveling. Connecticut and New York have restrictions on possession. Keep purchase documentation when traveling.

Do you offer bulk or agency purchasing?

Yes. We provide tailored solutions for agencies, departments, and security companies with competitive pricing, priority processing, and customization options (logos, colors). Contact sales@ballisticdefence.com with your requirements, quantities, and timeline.

How do I become a dealer or distributor?

We partner with quality tactical retailers who serve professional or serious civilian customers and maintain high product knowledge standards. Email sales@ballisticdefence.com with your business information, customer base details, and retail presence.

Where do you ship from and how long does it take?

We ship from our Florida facility (Altamonte Springs). Processing times depend on order size and current inventory. For specific timelines, contact sales@ballisticdefence.com. International shipping is case-by-case, subject to export regulations.

How do I choose the correct plate carrier size?

Measure your torso from the sternal notch (top of chest) to 2-3 inches above your navel. Our carriers accommodate standard 10x12 inch plates and feature adjustable shoulder straps and cummerbunds for custom fit. Contact sales@ballisticdefence.com if you're between sizes. Proper fit affects both protection and mobility.

Where can I find size guides?

Detailed sizing is on each product page. Tactical pants: waist sizes 28-44 inches. Plate carriers: adjustable for standard body types. For specific questions, contact our team. We'd rather help you get it right the first time.

How do I care for my body armor?

DO NOT WASH plates. Water compromises ballistic layers. Use a slightly damp cloth to clean plates. Spot clean carriers with mild soap, air dry only. Store in cool, dry locations away from sunlight and extreme temperatures. Never fold ballistic panels. Inspect regularly for damage (torn stitching, cracks, delamination). Replace damaged components immediately. Proper care ensures years of reliable protection.

How long does body armor last?

Ballistic plates: 10-year shelf life from production under proper storage. Each plate is marked with production date. Regular inspection is critical. Damaged armor must be replaced. Environmental factors (heat, moisture, UV exposure) accelerate degradation.
